Suspect Arrested After Student Robbed at Gunpoint

Location: Beyers Naude st and Govan Mbeki drive.
At around 6h30, the morning a student was robbed, in Beyers Naude Avenue, at gunpoint. The suspect(s) fled in a vehicle, of which the description and general direction were obtained. Through reviewing the CCTV footage in the general area, our control room identified the suspect vehicle, and a systematic search started.
Around 9h50, one of our responders found the suspect vehicle at the entrance of Riverwalk mall. He immediately reacted and cornered the suspect’s vehicle.
SAPS was at the scene within minutes and arrested one suspect. Unfortunately, the suspect that robbed the student earlier was not in the vehicle. The vehicle’s original numberplates, as well as a replica firearm, were found inside the vehicle.
Action Taken:
– The Victim opened a case at the SAPS.
– SAPS arrested the suspect and investigated the case.
