Mooirivier Protection has developed a mobile panic button and integrated an emergency service with it, known as the Mooirivier Protection App. The panic button can be used anywhere there is cellphone reception, and the control room will receive an accurate location of it.
If the panic button is used within the greater Potchefstroom area for any crime or medical emergency, response vehicles and/or the medical emergency vehicle will be dispatched to the location.
The application requires a smartphone with data.
Mooirivier Emergency Med is a specialist vehicle used to handle medical emergencies. The vehicle is registered as a medical emergency vehicle according to legislation, which means it is strictly regulated and equipped and manned according to strict requirements. The medical personnel must also be qualified at a very specific level to provide advanced emergency medical assistance.
However, legislation states that this vehicle may not transport patients. To ensure that service, the service is operated in partnership with ER24.
Included in the monthly premium is insurance that guarantees there will be no costs associated with the emergency medical and ambulance services. This even includes air ambulances that can be used in extreme emergencies.

People with a medical fund/hospital plan must follow a certain procedure through call centers, which is very time-consuming and traumatic in the case of a serious emergency. This service is immediately available, without any phone requests, addresses, or routes that need to be provided. This service is spontaneously activated as soon as the distress signal and location are received. All relevant medical information is available on a database, which includes medical fund details, chronic medication, medical conditions, blood type, and more. People without a medical fund/hospital plan benefit from quality medical emergency service and transport. Without this, the service would be very expensive, usually R2,000 or more. If the Mooirivier Protection app is used, the person’s position is accurately indicated. Navigation equipment in the vehicle ensures that there is no delay in getting emergency services to the scene. Private ambulance service, including air ambulance if needed, is guaranteed. Ambulance services are available nationwide through ER24.
