Op 28 Junie 2025, omstreeks 22:00, het ons beheerkamer ‘n oproep ontvang oor twee fietse wat uit ‘n oop motorhuis in Oosthuizenstraat gesteel is. Ons CCTV-operateurs het twee verdagtes met die fietse op kamera geïdentifiseer terwyl hulle die area verlaat het.
Teen ongeveer 04:00 die volgende oggend is die verdagtes weer op ons kameras (in Thabo Mbeki weg) waargeneem. Reaksie-eenhede is onmiddellik ontbied en albei verdagtes is suksesvol in hegtenis geneem.
By ondervraging het hulle erken dat hulle die fietse gesteel en verkoop het vir dwelmgeld. Hulle was glo weer op pad om iets te steel toe hulle vasgetrek is.
Alhoewel die fietse nie teruggevind kon word nie, is beide verdagtes gearresteer en verdere ondersoeke volg.
Two Suspects Arrested Following Bicycle Theft
On 28 June 2025, at approximately 22:00, our control room received a report about two bicycles stolen from an open garage in Oosthuizen Street. Our CCTV operators identified two suspects on camera leaving the area with the bicycles.
At around 04:00 the following morning, the suspects were once again spotted on our cameras in Thabo Mbeki Drive. Response units were immediately dispatched, and both suspects were successfully apprehended.
During questioning, they admitted to stealing and selling the bicycles to buy drugs. They were reportedly on their way to commit another theft when they were caught.
Although the bicycles could not be recovered, both suspects were arrested, and further investigations are underway.
